I like how they point out the sociological barriers that sabotage innovation. He might have mentioned that religion and superstition will be a thing of the past - there again vested interest throws another wrench into the machinery of progress. That was cool! That's all for now - I have to go hose off my sleeping platform.
We ARE, however, shopping by "TV". They never dreamed that massive computers like ENIAC would fit on your lap and be many times more powerful. The first transistor having been invented just two years earlier, and the first IC not until 1958. Congress never found a reason to ban the microchip - "why its immoral because computers might take over the earth!" DUH!
I don't know exactly what they think soils living rooms. Do they think most people shit and piss on their couches? It's definitely possible, but I've cleaned a lot of living rooms in my day (I cleaned houses as an income supplement for many summers), but I never once wished I could hose one down. What I did wish was that I could open up a super-vacuum suction and suck out all of the dust and debis. Woefully, most living room schmutz is clutter, dishes, and sometimes cigarette nicotine stains. You can't hose that away.
When I was at a tender drinking age, there was a club in NY (Studio 54) that had sex rooms on one of the upper floors. They were completely decorated in vinyl, and rumor had it they were hosed down every morning. Perhaps something like that was taking place in June Cleaver's Living Room?

It's pretty amazing how completely and spectacularly wrong they were.

Damn! That IS June Cleaver....or is it Maureen, hosing off the crackers and wine and molested altar boys off her couch?
